This beautiful artistic homestay is the perfect place to be able to unwind and create if you’re an artist. It’s an exquisitely decorated and designed by Tarpan Patel and the space was an ex-sculptor’s studio. There are a lot of vibrant colours, antiques and a load of books to keep you company when you return from the festival. The home has its own private entrance and the only other occupants are Sasika and Tarpan’s family. All of this beauty and cosiness on an unbelievable price makes this place a must visit.

2. 47 Jobner Bagh
White walls, rustic and minimal decor and a space steeped in history and heritage.
47, Jobner Bagh is located inside one of the maharaja’s Jobner gardens. The guest house is located bang in the middle of the city and you’ll find yourself surrounded by the original walls of the garden. The rustic feel doesn’t take away from the luxury of the space that has beautiful artefacts around the house and a view of the Aravalis from the terrace. For its price, we recommend this over anything else in its range.

5. Karma Haveli Resort
If you want to go to Jaipur and plan to be lathered in luxury, a stay at the Karma Haveli Resort might be in order. While this place might burn a serious haveli sized hole in your pocket, it’s absolutely worth it for the views, rooms and the food. A converted 18th-century mansion, it is situated in Brahmapuri, the first colony of Jaipur. The interiors have been furnished and designed by local Jaipuri craftsmen to make you feel like a maharaja. Karma Kasuri Restaurant serves local and international cuisine, and the renovated ancient stepped well forms the centrepiece of the gardens.

This homestay was the brainchild of Kanwar Pushpendra Singh Jhala, who worked at a tea plantation for many years before retiring to Jaipur. The property has five large bedrooms and huge lawns. The place is newly renovated and provides all the amenities that one desires. Close to the railway station, we recommend the place if you’re looking to stay in a safe residential area, away from the bustle of the main road.

6. Jai Vilas
Jai Vilas strikes the right balance between cosy and traditional. The architecture and design aren’t so posh to make you feel intimidated, and neither so comfortable that it doesn’t feel like a unique experience. Archana and Joy Singh have done up the place with greens and deck chairs that make you want to soak up the winter sun. They also have a pool for the summer months, although you might not need it for this festival.

7. Pearl Palace Heritage
This premium hotel has a sublime feel to it. It looks like a regular Rajasthani haveli. This is the place we’d we recommend if you’re looking for attention and lots of pampering. The Madhubani room is especially gorgeous with a lot of Madhubani art adorning the walls. In fact, all the rooms are different, with their own unique flavours and the attention is detail is something that we can appreciate.
