Fake Desi Alcohol Kills 9 In UP’s Barabanki District! Be Careful!
Uttar Pradesh has a problem with hooch. So much so that in September last year, the government suggested death penalty for those who manufacture fake liquor if their product kills or permanently disables a person. And while this bill was passed, the problem sure hasn’t gone away. Now, fake desi liquor in UP kills 9 people, according to ANI.
A Tragedy At A Feast
All of the victims of this tragedy were from the same family who had gone to the nearby Thal Kurd village for a local feast at their relative’s house on 9th of January. They soon fell ill and were admitted to Lucknow Trauma Centre on the 10th night in critical condition. One of the suspects was diagnosed with a heart attack and the other bodies are being examined.

UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation amounting to 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased. He has also ordered a joint investigative team of the excise department and Home Ministry to take a more thorough look at the matter. The excise department claims that they are still probing and are not ruling out other causes of death such as severe cold. The Additional District Magistrate for Barabanki, Anil Kumar Singh, said that the details about the exact cause of death could only be stated accurately after the post-mortem report.
