Momos, dim sums, dumplings, wontons, call them by whichever name you like, we love them all! Hyatt Regency in Delhi has got a new Chinese chef, and he’s making over 15 amazing dim sums that are so good, you can happily spend an entire afternoon having just these!
First Things First
Chef Tan Dequan is the new Dim Sum Chef at The China Kitchen—Hyatt Regency’s speciality Chinese restaurant that has won many awards (and is celebrating its 10th birthday this year). He has 23 years of experience and hails from Guangdong, China, so you know this is as authentic as it gets. This amazing chef has mastered over 70 kinds of dimsums—boiled, steamed, pan-fried, and fried. You can be sure of spending an entire afternoon just gorging on the many flavours that they come in.
You can find these 15 dim sums that are filled with things like crystal carrot, mushrooms, crab, celery, baby corn, beef, water chestnut and more. We went in for a little tasting one afternoon and were a little overwhelmed (pleasantly, of course!) with the variety. This special dim sum menu is set to satisfy your craving with authentic Chinese flavours and a few innovations on the chef’s part. In the chef’s words, “A chef has to cook with the heart so it is imperative to have a good heart to cook well”.
The menu presents an array of veg and non-veg dim sums including Dark Green Mushroom Fungus Dumplings, Fresh Seafood Seaweed Dumpling, P Xiao long bao, Chinese Caterpillar Fungus Dumplings for a remarkable bite-sized culinary journey. We loved the Vegetable & Lotus Root Puffs that just melt in your mouth, the Crab, Celery & Shrimp Dim Sums, the Crystal Carrot, Mushroom, Bean, Lotus & Water Chestnut Dim Sums that were delightfully crunchy, and the Chicken Bao that was just the right size and crispy on the outside.
The menu is presented as a part of the regular a-la-carte menu and is available for lunch and dinner.
